ALTEN GmbH was formed in 2008 through the merger of ALTEK GmbH (founded in 2000) and IMP Engineering (acquired in 2003). With operations in seven major cities, ALTEN GmbH offers a broad range of engineering services to meet the R&D needs of major companies in the ground transportation, telecommunications, aerospace, microelectronics, medical equipment and energy industries.

AEROTEC Engineering GmbH joined the ALTEN group in 2004. With facilities in seven German cities, including Hamburg and Bremen, and in Toulouse, France, AEROTEC Engineering GmbH is one of Airbus's key consultants in aerostructures, installation, interior layout, technical documentation and support throughout the product development cycle (methodology, product life-cycle management, application development, training, etc.). AEROTEC Engineering GmbH is working with ALTEN teams in the Toulouse area on several transnational work packages.

AEROTEC Engineering GmbH is also certified DIN EN 9100:2003 Aerospace series - Quality management systems - Requirements (based on ISO 9001:2000) and quality system; Model for quality assurance in design, development, production, installation and servicing (based on ISO 9001:1994)
