ALTEN and Excelcar join forces to accelerate industrial transformation through 5G

ALTEN, world leader in Engineering and IT services, announces a strategic partnership with Excelcar, a key player in the acceleration of industrial innovation in Brittany, France. This partnership is part of the Campus GO>5Gi program, led by Excelcar and supported by France 2030. Its ambition is to develop the deployment and uses of private 5G networks in industry, as a lever for performance and accelerating digital transformation.

Shared objectives for a more connected, high-performance industry

This partnership aims to combine the technological and industrial expertise of both entities to support companies of all sizes in their transition to the industry of the future. As part of this support, ALTEN and Excelcar will deploy full-scale 5G demonstrators and demonstrate their added value. This unique partnership also gives companies access to comprehensive support, from feasibility studies to industrial deployment, including prototyping, qualification of innovative industrial solutions and training of field teams.

A partnership to develop 5G in France

ALTEN and Excelcar intend to structure a joint industrial transformation support offering, mobilising all the necessary expertise – from Lean to project management, via industrial wireless networks – in order to integrate technologies such as AI, IoT and private industrial 5G. Collaborations are already underway with manufacturers in several sectors of the manufacturing industry, including automotive and mobility, agri-food, naval, aeronautical, space and logistics.
Thanks to private 5G, many innovative uses become possible and easy to implement, such as taking advantage of AI opportunities, analysing massive data in real time, or unleashing the potential of autonomous robots for logistics in factories. The aim is also to simplify data capture, the deployment of management tools (MES), production quality control, and equipment connectivity.

Rennes, a strategic hub for Industry 4.0 and 5G

This partnership places the Rennes site at the heart of ALTEN and Excelcar’s innovation and digital industrial transformation projects. Located at the heart of the La Janais Carbon-free Industry Centre of Excellence (Pôle d’Excellence de l’Industrie Décarbonée de la Janais), in Rennes, Excelcar is an industrial ecosystem and a unique hub dedicated to the development, prototyping, testing and industrialisation of innovative solutions.
Supporting this regional dynamic, ALTEN intends to develop its innovation activities through its “Smart Factory” and “Smart Communications” programmes. The aim of this partnership is to accelerate industrial transformation thanks to private 5G, building on the momentum already generated by concrete digital transformation projects.
Together, Excelcar and ALTEN are combining their expertise to develop concrete uses for private industrial 5G in support of Industry 4.0.

“This partnership is part of our commitment to making innovation accessible and tangible for manufacturers. Together, we will co-develop high-impact solutions,” explains Steve PEGUET, ALTEN’s Head of Innovation.

“This partnership is in line with our ambition to accelerate the digital transformation of manufacturers, by making technologies more accessible and promoting OT/IT convergence for efficient, sustainable and low-carbon industrial implementation,” comments Didier ANDEROUARD, Excelcar’s Development Director.
