Helicopters: the “Lean Supply Chain management” centre
ALTEN is in charge of supply management for all the mechanical and structural parts for a global leader in civilian and military helicopters in France and Germany. A disruptive strategy and a mature nearshore organisations have allowed it to reduce supply management costs by 30% and deliver a high standard of service (e.g.: OTD>95%, reduction in missing parts and stock).
With 800 suppliers, 100,000 references, and a presence in 21 countries, the client is faced with a major industrial challenge to deliver parts in time in its different fields (assembly line, maintenance centre, prototyping, etc.).
ALTEN actively accompanies the manufacturer’s project by offering an innovative strategy designed to greatly reduce the cost of logistics and improve the satisfaction of internal clients: new organisation, automation of tasks of low added value, nearshore service centre, implementation of LEAN methods, etc.
More than 65 ALTEN engineers (including 25 in Romania) intervene in Supply Chain management for structural parts (sheet metal, composite, thermoplastics and elastomers) and mechanical parts (preliminary drafts, machined parts, equipment and fastenings) for all the civilian and military programmes:
- Management of stock, missing parts and orders
- Mechanical studies (processing of production nonconformities and returns)
- Improvement of supplier performance
By deploying a multi-specialist organisation (mechanical and Supply Chain) and a breakthrough approach, ALTEN has managed to reduce the cost of supply management by 30% less than three years and deliver a performance that exceeds the initial goals.
