ALTEN and the United Nations, more than 10 years of commitment to sustainable development

More than 10 years ago, Simon Azoulay, co-founder and CEO of the ALTEN Group, wrote to Ban Ki-moon, then Secretary-General of the United Nations. Why?

To announce that the ALTEN Group has signed the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact. For ALTEN, this commitment constitutes a central approach in favor of the protection of Human Rights, the environment and the development of sustainable innovation.

More than 10 years later, ALTEN’s commitment to sustainable development has been fully integrated into its development strategy. The Group’s extra-financial performance is now recognized by external rating agencies.

In 2020, ALTEN has made a point of renewing its commitment to respect and implement the 10 principles of the Global Compact. This makes all the more sense as they are a source of answers to support those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic we have been facing.

This renewal of the signature of the Global Compact confirms ALTEN’s desire to work in favour of Human Rights, international labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption in order to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2021, ALTEN’s commitment continued through two actions: ALTEN’s participation in the Climate Ambition Accelerator program linked to the Global Compact, and the signing of the Initiative Science Based Targets (SBTi) commitment letter. ALTEN Group will publish in the upcoming 2 years its climatic objectives and its roadmap lined up with the recommendations made by the Initiative Science Based Targets.

Since 2020 and until 2025, ALTEN has been working and will continue to do so on the following topics:

  • Promote the use of renewable energy on its premises, with the objective of 80% of renewable energy for 2025 for the CSR scope.
  • Encourage the energy efficiency of buildings
  • Minimize the impact of IT facilities
  • Support the transition to soft and sustainable means of mobility
  • Assess suppliers and service providers on their carbon emissions and promote suppliers committed to the climate.
  • Support and raise the awareness of international subsidiaries regarding their carbon trajectory.

You think we need to do more? So do we!

That’s why we will continue to take up new challenges with our network of CSR referents to capitalize on each other’s initiatives and share our common values.
