ALTEN to optimise supply chain in collaboration with Siemens
ALTEN, a world leader in engineering and IT services have announced its collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software to improve and optimise the performance of the supply chain at the 2025 edition of the Global Industrie trade fair, to be held in Lyon, France, from March 11 to 14. Following existing collaborations with Siemens France on the Factory 4.0 digital twin, industrial 5G and large-scale virtual reality training, this new cooperation aims to transform supply chain management by offering integrated, innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence, digital continuity and the digital twin.
Building a resilient and sustainable supply chain
ALTEN’s vision is to orchestrate and optimise end-to-end logistics, from product production through transport to warehouses and finally delivery to the customer. Thanks to integrated solutions guaranteeing digital continuity in processes, this partnership enables the overall performance of the supply chain to be optimised in terms of resilience, profitability, transparency and sustainability via an intelligent digital twin.
The “Digital Twin for Optimized Supply Chain” offer provides cutting-edge technological tools to improve both tactical and strategic decision-making on the organisation of the supply chain and the operational implementation of green logistics. Siemens’ solutions, such as Supply Chain Suite, AX4, Intraplant Logistics (IPL) and Plant Simulation, provide digital continuity of transportation, logistics, production and product management to deliver significant added value.
ALTEN, a world leader in engineering and high-tech consulting, is contributing its IT expertise and global supply chain offer, including artificial intelligence-based decision support, to cover all of its customers’ needs. Yannick Tricaud, Group Executive Director in charge of IT Enterprise Services, explains: “This new offer opens up a whole range of solutions for a resilient and sustainable supply chain. Through this collaboration, we are pursuing our ambition of facilitating and democratising the integration of cutting-edge technologies for the benefit of all those involved in the supply chain.”
The Supply Chain 4.0 Orchestrator demonstrator
The Supply Chain 4.0 Orchestrator demonstrator, presented at Global Industrie, enables simulations of use cases with a green, lean and resilient focus. It illustrates the benefits of the approach in organising players to avoid bottlenecks, secure supply and improve logistics. It also incorporates the organisation of the logistics of the future based on the physical Internet, which should become widespread over the next ten years. By bringing together Siemens’ software and ALTEN solutions, companies can adapt their production, optimise their logistics flows, improve their resilience to crises and interruptions and minimise the ecological impact of transport.
A modular and flexible approach
ALTEN and Siemens are adopting a modular and flexible approach that is compatible with their customers’ current level of supply chain maturity. The methodology is based on situation analysis, modelling, optimisation of use cases by intelligent simulation and implementation of an end-to-end tool-based approach. Macroscopic and microscopic modelling solutions enable continuous adaptation of strategy and operations, with a view to achieving the highest level of maturity in supply chain 4.0: lean, optimised, responsive, sustainable and resilient.
It answers various challenges such as making the supply chain more robust and secure, synchronising the supply chain with production, optimising stocks and logistics and improving traceability. The potential gains are up to 15% on logistics costs, 40% on transport times and 80% on complaints.
